Aberdeenshire castles

While staying at our lodges you can wander the Castle Trail, with an astounding 263 castles within easy reach of Logie Newton Farm. Within 20 minutes of the farm we have:

  • Fyvie
  • Delgatie
  • Huntly
  • Dunnideer 

The famous and popular Dunnottar Castle is an hour’s drive while the fairytale Craigievar Castle is only 45 minutes away.

Stone circles and standing stones

Explore mysterious standing stones and the historic landmarks scattered across the countryside (including those found right here on the farm).

Around 10% of the total number of stone circles recorded in Britain can be found in Aberdeenshire! In addition to the stone circles at Logie Newton, the following are within a 30 minute drive of the farm:

  • Loanhead of Daviot 
  • Dunnideer
  • Cothiemuir Hill
  • Easter Aquhorthies  

As one of the heartlands of the Pictish community, Aberdeenshire is home to a number of the elaborately decorated Symbol Stones for which the Picts are famed – around 20% of all Pictish stones recorded in Scotland can be found in Aberdeenshire!

You don’t need to venture far from our farm to find examples of these stones. Within half an hour of the farm you can view:
